The moment is NOW!

written by Erica Quam

Tomorrow. Next week. Next time. When will I ever get there? One day. Sometime. I should do that. In 5 years... That's on my bucket list. I am going to do that someday!

Too often we live in the past or in the future. We are obsessed with tomorrow!

Now, I'm a planner. I LOVE to plan. I love to plan trips, plan retreats, plan adventures...it's usually good to have some sort of plan. AND the secret to living a juicy life, is to be in the moment. The here. The now.

Q: What gets in the way of living the life you want to live - right now?

Kids. My job. My income. I'm too busy right now. I don't have time for the things I enjoy!
There are lots of excuses and many different reasons people give when answering this question. (Note: Reasons are also excuses.)

The honest answer is: YOU. You get in the way of living the life that you want to live right now.

The reality is...YOU are in charge of the choices that you make and how you spend each tick of the clock - that turns into minutes, then into hours, then into the days of your life.

We all get stuck in certain patterns and habits that steer us away from the life that we want to be living.  There are so many daily distractions of our rapid-paced world that pull us in so many directions.

So, here's another question:

Q: What is ONE thing that you could do right now to be a better you in this moment? To be more ALIGNED with your purpose?

Could you be more present? Could you be a better listener for someone? Could you make time for yourself to get outside and take a few deep breaths? Can you shut down your email and get back to it at time where you'll actually be more productive?

I believe that we all have the answers we need to live our best life - moment by moment - inside of us.  All we have to do is MAKE the time to be present. TAKE the time to be in the moment and LISTEN.

Because if we’re always addicted to what’s next, we’ll never fully enjoy what’s now.
Today is not a rehearsal.

Is it easy? No! Will you ever do it perfectly? Probably not. But the next time you notice yourself worrying so much about the past or dwelling on something in the future, take time to BE in the presence of now.
